They discuss the mistakes and how to fix each one. They also share stories from their own experiences. These videos are presented in conjunction with SQL Cruise.

In Part 2 of the series, SQL Server MVPs Aaron Bertrand and SurveyMonkey’s Argenis Fernandez join Kevin Kline. They transition from discussing disk subsystems to discussing the issues with accepting SQL Server’s installation defaults. They begin by explaining why you need to set the size of a database when you build it and the issues with not managing virtual log files (VLFs) correctly. They also explain why you should not stick with the default power plan. They wrap up the session by sharing examples of times when they’ve seen a default really hurt performance.
