SQL Server MVPs Aaron Bertrand and Kevin Kline continue their series on query tuning best practices. Kevin starts by talking about what you should include in test harnesses for testing your SQL code and how to isolate it and stabilize your environment in order to get consistent results. He then gives some tips on how to assess those results. The patterns and anti-patterns that are in the video are UNION vs. UNION ALL, Index Structures, and Compound Indexes. Aaron and Kevin include Covering Indexes as a bonus.

Thanks for the really interesting videos about Performance Tuning – they’ve been really helpful. Just wondering how I would get a promo code for your e-book on Amazon?
